The first vampire movie was Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens translated, Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror; a 1922 German Expressionist horror film, directed by F. W. Murnau, starring Max Schreck as the vampire Count Orlok (an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula) also Murnau’s version was the basis of Nosferatu by Werner Herzog starring the inimitable Klaus Kinski released in 1979.
